The Overijssel village of Balkbrug, with a population of just 4,000, is the winner of this year’s Postcode lottery main prize of €59.7 million.

The big winners, who share €29.85 million, have the postcode 7707 AZ. They  include future resident Jan, who told RTL he had won €477,600 and is due to move there in a week. “There are no floors and the plasterer is due tomorrow,” he told the broadcaster.

Home maintenance seems to be the order of the day. The couple next door, who won t€3,343,200, plan to put in a new front door, while neighbours Ellen and Gerrit, who won €6,208,800 say they will do “a bit of renovating”, RTL reported.

Neighbour Leander won €3,343,200 and is, however, now planning “a very long skiing holiday”, RTL said.

Everyone in the village with 7707 at the start of their postcode will also win a share of €29.85 million but how much has not yet been made public.

Half tickets

The €30 million prize in the Staatsloterij lottery will be divided into two winning bundles of €15 million because the ticket was sold as two halves. One winner comes from Bladel, the other bought their ticket in Heemskerk but has yet to come forward and claim their prize.
