Saturday, the shortest day of the year, will be mild and damp
There is a mixed bag of weather ahead in the coming days, with a mild and damp Saturday and a much colder Sunday, complete with wintry showers and some sunshine.
Saturday, the shortest day of the year, will be 8° to 10° from mid-morning onwards but the rain will also move in from the North Sea and there could be heavy showers by evening, according to weather bureau Weeronline.
Sunday, says Weeronline, will be a mix of sunshine, cloud and heavy showers, which may include hail and even some snow. The wind will also be strong with gusts of up to 80 kph in the west and northwest.
The temperature will be no higher than 7° on Sunday but it will feel much colder during the rain and wind.
There will still be some showers on Monday but after that it will be mainly dry with gray skies and temperatures between 8° and 11° over the Christmas break.
The KNMI’s long range forecast says the rest of the week will by dry and colder, but the damp weather may be back again by New Year.
