The Tikkie payment sharing system continued to grow in popularity in 2024, reaching a record 157 million payments for a total of €7.4 billion.

That brings the average Tikkie payment to €47.28, up just over €3 on 2023, the system’s developer ABN Amro said.

Nine in 10 Tikkies were paid within 24 hours and 64% within one hour. Most were payments for eating out and shopping.

Of the total, over one million were for less than €1 – with toilet visits during King’s Day accounting for the bulk of the mini payments, ABN Amro said.
