Mirage Retail Group, the parent company of bankrupt household goods chain Blokker, has also filed for bankruptcy.

The company is responsible for Blokker’s debts, including €13 million in coronavirus support which needs to be paid back. It also acts as guarantor for the rent for some of the premises occupied by Blokker.

Mirage Retail Group was for years a mainstay of Dutch high streets and owned Intertoys, BCC and Big Bazar as well as Blokker. BCC also went bust and Big Bazar was sold shortly before it too went bankrupt.

Intertoys was sold to Belgian firm ToyChamp earlier this year.
