Healthcare premiums have risen by almost €465 between 2020 and 2025 – an increase of 32% – according to research by comparison website Zorgwijzer.

The increase is seven percentage points above inflation over the same period, which was almost 25%, Zorgwijzer said.

In addition, healthcare benefits payable to low income households to help pay the premiums have not kept pace, the figures show.

A family with two adults received a maximum of €199 a month in healthcare benefits in 2020, and that which reach €250 next year. But their premiums have now gone up by around €77 a month, meaning they are now some €26 worse off, Zorgwijzer said.
