Dozens of flights were again cancelled at Schiphol airport on Saturday morning because of the fog, while in Eindhoven several flights were delayed for up to 4.5 hours.

At Schiphol 40 departures and arrivals have been scrapped, out of a total 1,200, airport officials said.

The KNMI weather bureau called a code yellow weather warning because of the mist, which had reduced visibility to less than 200 metres in places.

Several flights were also cancelled on Friday.
