Blokker has a new owner and will relaunch, curators say
High street staple Blokker, which went bust mid November, has a new owner and will relaunch, the curators said on Monday.
The new owner for the household goods chain has not yet been revealed, nor which stores will remain open. That depends on negotiations between the landlords and the new owner and could take several months.
Some of the locations have already been allocated to new retail formals. For example, property firm Wereldhave has rented four of its seven Blokker premises to other companies, according to retail news website Retailtrends.nl.
The current closing down sale will continue until the end of the month, and most staff will also lose their contract then. However, 30 office and 50 shop staff are being retained to ensure the bankruptcy proceeds smoothly, the curators said.
Before the bankruptcy, Blokker had some 400 outlets, of which 45 were run by franchisees. The company’s debts totalled some €93 million.
