Winds of up to 110 kph could batter Dutch coast on Wednesday
Coastal parts of the Netherlands could be hit by winds of up to 110 kph on Wednesday evening, weather bureau Weeronline said on Tuesday afternoon.
There is a 70% likelihood that the Dutch west and north coasts will be hit by the storm, bringing gale-force 9 winds towards the end of the day, Weeronline said. The chance of a force 10 storm, Weeronline said, is 20%.
The wind on Wednesday afternoon will initially come from the south but will shift to the west as the day progresses, bringing strong winds and gusts of up to 95 kph. By evening, the wind will shift again to the northwest, with the storm peaking between 6 pm and 9 pm.
Much still remains unclear about the storm’s exact path, Weeronline said.
The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for both Wednesday and Thursday for all parts of the country except the four southeastern provinces.
