Strong winds, wet snow and thunder ahead, weather bureaus say
Strong winds are expected to hit the Dutch coast later on Tuesday, bringing chilly temperatures and wintry showers to northern parts of the country, according to weather bureau KNMI.
Wet snow is likely in the north and northeast and there could be hail and thunderstorms by evening, the KNMI said.
The temperature will differ sharply, from 11° in the south to just 2° in central and eastern parts of the country.
Wednesday again will be chilly with sleet and wet snow at times, as well as strong winds. The temperature will not rise above 5° and will drop to around 0° inland, the KNMI said. The snow may stick for a time in places.
The picture is similar for the rest of the week and weekend, with a 90% likelihood of rain and sleet every day, plus strong winds on the coast.
The KNMI’s long-term forecast does foresee a switch to drier weather towards the end of the month and into December but it will remain chilly for the time of year.
