Dutch state pension age likely to remain unchanged
People in the Netherlands who reach the age of 65 in 2030 can expect to live almost 21 more years after that, national statistics agency CBS said on Friday.
The actual figure, 20.96, is down slightly on last year’s forecast and is due to the knock on effect of the number of deaths during the coronavirus pandemic, the agency said.
The downward revision means the state pension age, which has been rising in line with life expectancy is unlikely to change. It is currently 67 and is due to rise to 67 and three months from 2028.
The social affairs ministry is due to announce any changes by the end of December.
In 1950, someone reaching the age of 65 could expect to live a further 14.3 years, but this had risen to 20.1 years in 2019, before the coronavirus pandemic.
