Carqon cargo bikes recalled over safety concerns
Cargo bike maker Carqon is recalling some of its models over safety concerns, in what is the latest in a series of recalls by bicycle manufacturers.
People who own a Classic, Cruise or Flatbed bike are at risk of an accident because the handlebars may come loose or even break off, the company said on its website.
The bike handlebars will be inspected and fitted with new bolts if necessary.
Carqon is part of Accell which also owns the Babboe cargo bike brand. At the beginning of this year consumer safety organnisation NVWA told Babboe to stop trading because of faulty frames. Tens of thousands of its bikes had to be recalled.
Cargo bike maker Europe Cycle Company was also ordered to halt sales of all its Vogue brand bikes and recall two types because of “serious safety concerns”, the NVWA said.
