A body found on a beach in Valencia is that of 53-year-old Dutch woman Silvani Lochi who was reported missing following the devastating floods, the AD and Telegraaf reported.

The foreign affairs ministry has yet to confirm the news, which was made public on Facebook by Ramona Wijnands, a friend of the victim.

Lochi lived in the village of Turis which was directly in the path of the mud streams that hit the area on October 29. Friends and family said they had been in contact with Lochi on the evening of that day. She  told them she was going to drive home from a village some 45 kilometres from her home. Nothing was heard from her since.

Her body was reportedly removed from the beach at El Saler, some 45 kilometres east of Turis.

Over 200 people died and at least 32 people are still missing following the floods which were caused by a DANA, a Spanish acronym for high-altitude isolated depression, made worse by rising sea temperatures.

Regional president Carlos Mazón is in the political crosshairs for his handling of the emergency. Last weekend some 130,000 people gathered in Valencia to demand his resignation, accusing him of reacting too late to the weather alert given out by the national weather agency AEMET and failing to coordinate help.
