Two men killed in crash, may have been fleeing a crime scene

Police cordon at the Haaksbergen crash site

Two men have been killed and a third seriously injured in a road accident on the A50 and police say the three may have been making a getaway from a crime.

The AD suggests a safe was found close to the wrecked car and other sources told the paper that an explosives expert checked the vehicle before the emergency services were allowed access.

As yet police have not said how the crash happened but the car appears to have ploughed through the crash barrier on a bend and ended up between several trees.

The two who were killed, both 21 and from Utrecht, died at the scene and, according to broadcaster NOS, may have been thrown from the vehicle. The third man, who is 25, comes from Oss.
