Police are investigating an explosion outside a building housing several law firms in The Hague. No one was injured in the blast but there was some damage to the building.

The explosion took place around 10 pm on the Laan van Meerdervoort and the police have appealed for witnesses.

Nine days ago there was a firebomb attack on law firm which specialises in legal aid cases in the centre of Amsterdam.

No one was hurt in that explosion and short fire that followed. Police say the premises, which are shared by a number of lawyers, was an explicit target.

Police say there has been a surge in the number of firebomb attacks this year. So far there have been 768 incidences, compared with 497 during the same period in 2023.
