One Dutch restaurant has three Michelin stars in latest edition
Only one restaurant in the Netherlands has retained the top accolade of three Michelin stars in the latest edition of the gastronomic bible.
De Librije in Zwolle, which was awarded three stars for the first time in 2004, received the highest honour when the Dutch stars were announced at a ceremony in Maastricht.
Owners Jonnie and Thérèse de Boer were described as the “flag bearers” for Dutch cuisine by Michelin inspectors.
Restaurant Inter Scaldes in Kruiningen, Zeeland, lost one of its three stars after changing hands and undergoing a renovation. The judges said new owner Jeroen Achtien and his wife Sanne had “brought Inter Scaldes back to the top of Dutch gastronomy in a short time”.
Ten restaurants won a Michelin star for the first time, while the total number of starred establishments was down slightly from 125 last year to 122. Eight new restaurants won a green star for sustainable cuisine, bringing the number to 23.
