Eurostar direct trains to London set to resume in February
Direct train services between Amsterdam and London will resume on February 10, once work on the Dutch capital’s main railway stations is completed.
Direct Eurostar services to London were halted on June 15 and passengers had to disembark and go through border checks in Brussels. London to Amsterdam direct services were not affected.
Work on the station includes expanding and updating services on the Eurostar platform to include shops and a larger departure lounge. The update also means more people will be able to travel from Amsterdam to London, the company said.
From February, 450 direct Amsterdam to London tickets will be available per train and later in the year that will be expanded to 650. Eurostar hopes to add a fourth daily service later in 2025.
In September, Eurostar chief executive Gwendoline Cazenave said the company may be forced to suspend its services in the Netherlands in 2025 because of the lack of clarity about the Dutch rail network. Most of these issues have now been sorted out.
However, “we have not yet resolved the issue of KMAR [passport control] costs and the drafting of the new agreement for next year,” a Eurostar spokeswoman told Dutch News. “Eurostar hopes to receive the support needed to develop a balanced and fair framework for the air and rail industry, to the benefit of customer.”
Eurostar has offered daily connections from Amsterdam to Paris, Brussels and later to London since 1996 and last year 4.2 million passengers travelled with Eurostar between the Netherlands and France, UK, Belgium.
