Ajax beat Feyenoord 2-0 in Wednesday night’s “Klassieker” tie, which had been postponed from earlier in the season by police industrial action.

Kenneth Taylor scored the first for the Amsterdammers just six minutes in, and Jorrel Hato scored from a corner just before half time to give Ajax a solid 0-2 lead. Wout Weghorst almost made it a 0-3 win in the second half.

The win puts Ajax up into second place in the Eredivisie with one match in hand on leaders PSV Eindhoven.

The first round of matches in the KNVB Cup also took place on Wednesday night, and led to the elimination of two Eredivisie clubs.

Almere City lost 3-0 to Quick Boys, an amateur side from Katwijk aan Zee, while NAC of Breda were put out 2-1 in injury time by Barendrecht club BVV.

First division club Roda JC is also out of the cup competition, after losing 3-1 to amateur club Rijnsburgse Boys.
