There is a sharp shift in the weather in the Netherlands this week after the warm weekend, with cooler temperatures and more rain, weather forecasters say.

Monday will start cloudy with some rain in the south, but the sun will break through in northern parts of the country. The maximum temperature will be around 21°, weather bureau KNMI said.

Tuesday will be similar, but a couple of degrees colder, and by Wednesday the temperature will be no higher than 15°. Rain will continue all week, but will tail off by Saturday when it will be a little warmer again. Sunday too will be dry, with temperatures around 20°.

The KNMI’s long-term forecast sees little change towards the end of the month, with temperatures around 20°, some sunny spells and little rain.
