After Babboe, Vogue cargo bikes are found to be unsafe
Cargo bike maker Europe Cycle Company has been ordered to halt sales of all its Vogue brand bikes and recall two types because of “serious safety concerns”, consumer safety organisation NVWA has confirmed.
The two models, Troy and Journey, were found to have faulty frames and saddle pins, similar to the Babboe cargo bikes which were banned earlier this year.
The NVWA received some 30 reports of breaking frames and saddle pins from consumers, dealers and retailers. Complaints directly to Vogue were not followed up sufficiently and ECC also failed in its legal duty to report the incidences to the NVWA, RTL Nieuws reported.
The Vogue bikes will be allowed back on the market once ECC can prove they are safe. The company is cooperating with the investigation, the NVWA said, and has opened a website where people who own a Troy or Journey can register and apply for repairs to their bikes.
The NVWA said it is looking into the safety of other cargo bike brands but did not specify which ones.
