The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for the west of the Netherlands, saying strong winds are likely to hit the coast on Friday.

The wind will drop towards the end of the day and there could also be thunderstorms, the KNMI said.

Thunderstorms are also likely on Saturday evening, with strong winds and hail. The weather is likely to cause problems for outdoor activities. The southwesterly wind could reach up to 90 kph and hailstones as much as two centimetres in diameter, the weather bureau said.

Sunday and next week will be a mixture of sunshine and cloud, with temperatures increasing steadily up to the end of the week. No rain is forecast.

The weather pattern is similar into September, the KNMI said, although there may also be the odd storm.
