Amsterdam’s Schiphol airport has some of the longest walks for passengers in Europe, according to research by airport parking website Parkos.

The walk from the departure lounge entrance to the furthest gate at Schiphol is almost 1.5 kilometres, and that puts Schiphol in eighth place in the ranking, Parkos said. The longest walk is at Madrid’s Barajas airport, where travellers face a 2.5 kilometre walk to the furthest gate, but the airport does offer shuttle buses.

Athens airport and Charles de Gaulle in Paris also have walks of over two kilometres while passengers at Frankfurt and London Heathrow both face covering 1.8 kilometres to reach the furthest gate.

Eindhoven airport, by contrast, requires a walk of 485 metres while at Rotterdam, the stroll is just 189 metres.
