Eindhoven airport is closed to air traffic because of a network outage and it is unclear when the problem will be resolved.

No flights have taken off or landed at the airport on Wednesday. According to Omroep Brabant, the hall is crowded with passengers and travellers are complaing they have received very little information.

“We haven’t been told what’s going on for a few hours,” one person said.

“Due to a network failure, no air traffic can be handled at Eindhoven Airport. It is still unclear when the disruption will be resolved. A solution is being worked on,” the airport said in a statement.

Ryanair, Transavia and Wizz Air are among the airlines that operate flights to and from the southern city.

Other airports have not been affected. However, the Dutch emergency services are currently experience an outage as well and the police and fire services have been using phone and SMS to communicate since 10.30 pm on Tuesday evening.

As yet, it is unclear if there is any connection between the two.

The alarm number 112 is still operating normally.
