Former housing and health minister Hugo de Jonge (CDA) has been nominated for the job of interim king’s commissioner for Zeeland.

De Jonge, who was born in the Zeeland town of Bruinisse, will take over from Han Polman who is taking up a position in the Council of State from September 16.

“It’s wonderful to work for this wonderful province where I was born and raised. I will do my utmost for Zeeland and the Zeeuwen,” De Jonge said on X.

A king’s commissioner is the presiding member of the provincial executive, the body which manages the day-to-day affairs of the province.
