Feyenoord win Johan Cruijff plate on penalties after 4:4 draw

Feyenoord have beaten PSV 4:2 on penalties to win the Johan Cruijff plate in the match between last season’s league and cup winners which traditionally starts the new season.

The match ended in a 4:4 draw, but Brian Priske’s squad were stronger in the post full-time penalties and clinched the trophy in Eindhoven.

The new-look Eredivisiekicks off this coming Friday when Groningen take on NAC. PSV meet RKC Waalwijk on Saturday while Feyenoord meet Willem II. Ajax are first in action on Sunday, against Heerevenveen.
