Dutch women make it two rowing golds as medal haul picks up
Dutch rowers have picked up their second gold medal of the Paris Olympics, this time for the women’s coxless fours.
Marloes Oldenburg, Hermijntje Drenth, Tinka Offereins and Benthe Boonstra crossed the finishing line just ahead of Britain. New Zealand took the bronze.
Earlier in the day, Melvin Twellaar and Stef Broenink won silver in the double sculls. They had been favourites for the title but were beaten by Romania. Italy was third.
On Wednesday evening in the pool, Caspar Corbeau was the surprise winner of the bronze medal in the 200 metres breast stroke, behind home favourite Leon Marchand and Australian Zac Stubblety-Cook.
