Don’t go to Israel, it is too dangerous, Dutch government warns
The Dutch foreign affairs ministry has issued negative advice for all travel to Israel following mounting tension in the region.
“Whatever your situation is, don’t go,” the statement said. “It is much too dangerous and the Dutch embassy cannot help you if you get into difficulties.”
Experts say that Iran and possibly Hezbollah will carry out revenge attacks in Israel following two high profile assassinations.
Canada has also brought out a “do not travel” recommendation for Israel but Britain, the US and France have not done so.
Dutch flag carrier KLM is among the airlines which have cancelled all flights to Israel because of the concerns. The stop will last until October at least, the airline said last week.
Charter airline Transavia has also said it will stop flying to Lebanon to avoid problems with sudden cancellations. The airline offered four flights a week to Beirut.
Last week the foreign affairs ministry renewed its warning to Dutch nationals in Lebanon, urging them to leave the country as quickly as they can.
