Newbuild house sales increased by 34% in first quarter – CBS
The number of newbuild homes sold in the first quarter of 2024 was up by one-third on the previous year, figures from the statistics agency CBS show.
Almost 4,500 newly built houses were bought in the period, with prices up by 1.4% year-on-year.
The figure is still well below the long-term trend, with between 5,700 and 6,900 new homes sold in the first period of the five previous years.
Prices of existing homes were up by 3.8% on a year-on-year basis, the first quarterly rise since the end of 2022.
The average price for a newbuild home was €493,000, while older homes changed hands for an average price of €432,000, the CBS said.
