More heavy rain, storms and high winds expected from Tuesday
More heavy rains and storms are on the way on Monday night as a cold weather front moves in from the south-west, forecasters have warned.
Temperatures could reach 30C later in this week after the storm clouds clear, giving way to dry sunny spells, but the unsettled weather is likely to return at the weekend.
Thunderstorms will reach coastal areas on Monday night and sweep across the country through Tuesday, accompanied by heavy showers and gusts of up to 75 km/h.
“It won’t be as bad as last week, but even so,” Buienradar meteorologist Magdel Erasmus told RTL.
Temperatures will drop to between 18C and 21C on Tuesday, before recovering to the mid-twenties on Wednesday as the weather turns dry and sunny. Thursday is likely to bring temperatures of 25C to 27C in most places, while Limburg could reach 30C on Friday, Erasmus said.
“It will stay warm on Satuday, but the weather will become more changeable,” she added. “Sunday will feel a lot less warm.”
