More cargo bike brands have breaking frames: RTL
The Dutch product safety board has confirmed it has received reports about problems with cargo bikes from brands other than Babboe and is looking into them, RTL said on Thursday.
The problems centre on the welded frames, which break in the middle. The NVWA, which has decided to say which brands are involved, has sent inspectors to visit several owners, RTL said.
“It is extremely important that people report dangerous incidents which happen to them,” a spokesman said. The agency has had over 100 reports so far this year.
Thousands of Babboe bikes have already been recalled because of problems that emerged last year. In February the company was ordered to stop selling its cargo bikes because of the safety risks.
In March, the NVWA began a criminal investigation into the company after workers claimed they had been forced to cover up the problems.
