The Dutch foreign affairs ministry has renewed its warning to Dutch nationals in Lebanon and urged them to leave the country as quickly as they can.

Several airlines have already stopped flights to Beirut because of the increased tensions between Israel and Lebanon-based Hezbollah. The halt follows this weekend’s rocket attack on a football field in which 12 people, mostly children, died.

Lebanon has been a red zone for months, which means Dutch nationals should stay away at all costs. “Whatever your situation is, don’t travel there,” the ministry says on its website. “It is too dangerous. The Dutch embassy won’t always be able to help you if you get into difficulties.”

Following the weekend rocket attack, the embassy in Beirut is now warning that if the situation worsens “it will no longer be possible to leave the country”, the AD reported.
