Inflation rises to 3.7% in July driven by food and services
The Dutch annual rate of inflation reached 3.7% in July, according to a flash forecast by national statistics office CBS on Tuesday.
The figure is up 0.5 percentage point on June and a full percentage point up on May, when inflation hit 2.7%, the CBS said.
The rise is down to higher food and drink costs, as well as services. Energy, including fuel, was virtually unchanged in July, after going up 3.4% in June compared with June 2023.
The CBS will publish updated figures in August.
Based on EU methodology, inflation was 3.5% in July and 3.4% in June. The European calculations do not take the cost of rental housing into account. The rate of inflation in the eurozone in June was 2.4%.
