House prices were up 10% in June, Utrecht tops the list
House prices were up almost 10% in June, when compared with a year ago, with the highest rises recorded in Utrecht, according to new figures from national statistics agency CBS and the Kadaster land registry office.
In Utrecht, the rise averaged 17.3%, and was 12% across the province as a whole, outstripping Amsterdam where prices were up 10.4%. In Rotterdam and The Hague, prices were up 5.9% and 5.7% respectively.
Compared with May, the increase averaged 1.3%.
The rise of 9.7% nationwide took the average price of a house up to €441,112 and was the biggest increase in two years. The CBS figures reflect transactions that have been completed and included in the land registry listings. Other house price figures, published quarterly by estate agents group NVM, are based on transactions by its members.
In total, almost 92,400 properties changed hands in the first six months of the year, up 9% on the same period in 2023. The increase is visible across all provinces with the exception of Flevoland.
The figures are based on existing properties rather than new builds, which tend to be more expensive.
