Dutch beat Canada 4-0 in pre-Euro championships friendly

Winger Jeremie Frimpong was the star player in Oranje’s 4-0 win over Canada in a warm-up match ahead of the European Championships later this month.

In only his third turnout for the Dutch team, Frimpong put one goal and one assist on his name in a game in which all four goals were scored in the second half.

Memphis Depay opened the scoring for Oranje, followed by Frimpong, and then Wout Weghorst, substituting for Depay made it 3-0. Virgil van Dijk headed home the fourth in the 82nd minute.

On Monday, Oranje will meet Iceland as their warm-up for the competition continues.

Three-time winners Germany are hosting this summer’sEuropean football championships which run from 14 June to 14 July. Oranje are in Group D with Poland, Austria and France and are first on the pitch against Poland on June 16. Website
