Nicki Minaj cancels second Dutch concert after drugs arrest
US rapper Nicki Minaj has cancelled Sunday’s concert at the Ziggo Dome in Amsterdam following her arrest at Schiphol airport on drugs charges last Saturday.
Concert promotor Mojo said the concert had been cancelled because of the “events of the past week”. Minaj was arrested shortly before a flight to Britain after customs officials found a number of pre-rolled marijuana joints in her luggage.
They contained between 30 and 100 grammes of marijuana, while the Dutch policy is to turn a blind eye to five grammes for personal use. She was fined €350 and allowed to travel but the incident does give her a criminal record in the Netherlands.
Minaj said on Thursday that she had received racist treatment and that her baggage was only checked because of her skin colour. She also accused police officers of enjoying the situation.
A spokesman for the border police said they will always act if crimes come to light “whatever your background, no matter who you are, where you are from or where you are going.”
