More storms set to hit on Friday, weather forecasters warn
The KNMI weather bureau has issued a code yellow weather warning for the entire country for Friday and Saturday morning, saying thunderstorms will bring strong winds, hail and heavy rain nationwide.
Friday will start sunny, but the first storms will hit the south east of the country in the late morning. In the afternoon and evening, the storms will spread to the north and west.
As much as 50 millimetres of rain may fall in some places within the space of 24 hours, resulting in flash floods.
The storms will have largely disappeared by Saturday morning.
Sunday and the rest of the week will be a mix of sunny spells and showers, with temperatures in the low 20s. The KNMI’s long-term forecast is for more of the same, well into June.
