Man posed as model scout, abused dozens of young girls online
A 25-year-old man from The Hague will be prosecuted for sexual abuse and disseminating child pornography online involving at least nine girls aged between six and 12-years-old from the Netherlands and Belgium.
Police, who have been investigating the cases since the man was arrested in February, said they are expecting that number at least to double and are calling on victims to come forward.
The man approached the girls on Snapchat and TikTok posing as a woman working for a modelling agency. The man first asked for simple photographs but then went on to ask the girls to photograph themselves naked or, in some cases, while performing a sexual act.
User names were visible in some of the footage, giving police clues to the girls’ identity. All parents who have been approached have reported the incidents. Police confiscated computers, tablets and phones at the man’s home with at least 3,000 files containing child pornography.
The man has confessed and will appear in court on May 14.
