Joost Klein, who is representing the Netherlands at the Eurovision Song Contest, has been questioned by Swedish police about threats he allegedly made against a member of the Eurovision crew, Dutch media are reporting.

The incident is said to have taken place on Thursday evening in the Malmö Arena and the complaint was made on Friday, the AD said. There was no physical confrontation.

The police told reporters that both Klein and the person who made the complaint have been questioned and the case is now with the public prosecution department, which will decide what should happen next.

That, according to broadcaster NOS, could take several weeks.

According to the Telegraaf, the incident involved a female member of staff.

As yet it is unclear if Klein will appear in Saturday evening’s final. He was due to perform fifth, but did not take part in Friday’s rehearsal.

At around 10 am, AvroTros, which is responsible for the Dutch side of the operation, said it had not yet heard from the European Broadcasting Union, which organises the contest about whether Klein would be allowed to compete.
