Getir “planning to close down in the Netherlands”: Sky news
Fast grocery delivery firm Getir is planning to pull out of the Dutch, German and British markets, British broadcaster Sky News said at the weekend.
The app, once valued at over €11 billion, will announce this week that it is withdrawing from its three remaining European markets, Sky said. “Insiders said, that it could involve a sale of its assets or an insolvency procedure although they added that no decisions had been taken,” Sky reported.
Getir, one of a string of fast delivery firms that came to prominence during the coronavirus pandemic, declined to comment on the rumours.
Last August Getir closed five of its dark stores in Amsterdam and pulled out of six Dutch cities because of a lack of orders.
British fast delivery firm Zapp left the Netherlands in 2022 citing uncertainties due to changing rules and regulations concerning their distribution centres.
If Getir does close, it will leave Flink as the only superfast delivery firm operating n the Netherlands.
