Thursday will be perfect cafe terrace weather, forecasters say
Weather bureau Weerplaza is forecasting high temperatures on Thursday, saying it could be the warmest March 14 on record.
The current record dates from 1991, when it reached 17.6° at the De Bilt weather station, where records are set. Temperatures are currently around normal but high pressure above central Europe will bring a current of warm air towards the Netherlands later in the week.
“It will be perfect weather for sitting at a pavement café,” said meteorologist Floris Lafeber. “In theory, it could top 18°.” The sun will, however, be hidden at times by high cloud, he said.
The spell of warm weather will be short-lived lived. By Friday and the weekend, according to the KNMI weather bureau, the temperature will drop a few degrees and the rain will be back as well.
