Talks on forming a right-wing cabinet will continue next week
The four right wing parties that have been in talks on forming a new government in the Netherlands will talk further next week, according to Dutch media reports.
The far-right PVV, which won most seats in the November general election, the VVD, pro-countryside BBB and new party NSC will continue with their efforts to put a new administration together – possibly an extra-parliamentary cabinet with non-aligned ministers, broadcaster NOS reported.
Kim Putters, the head of the government advisory council SER, is due to present his report on the talks so far to parliament next week.
He was charged with assessing if there was enough support for a “fruitful political alliance” between the four parties that could count on “sufficient support” in the lower house of parliament.
He said on social media on Thursday evening that it would be wrong to suggest a deal had been reached.
