A Dutch woman and her two children in their 20s have died during a mountain walk in Switzerland, Swiss police have said.

The woman, 57, her daughter aged 25, and 22-year-old son, were reported missing on Thursday after failing to return from a walk in the mountains near Montreux, in the west of the country.

Their bodies were found on Friday, 300 metres below a steep path, after a major search operation involving helicopters.

Swiss police said the mother and daughter were on holiday and the son lives near Lausanne.
