Rail line in Brabant closed after train hits Carnaval float
Carnaval revellers had a narrow escape when a float was struck by a train while crossing a railway line in Noord-Brabant.
The train driver was taken to hospital after being injured in the collision on Zevenbergseweg in Bergham at around 11.30pm. Nobody else on board the train or the trailer was hurt.
Alternative transport was arranged for the 100 train passengers. NS said replacement buses would run on the stretch between Oss and Wijchen until midday on Monday.
Track operator ProRail said the level crossing had been badly damaged by the collision. Transport and safety board inspectors are examining the scene before the debris can be cleared and the line reopened.
