A baby who couldn’t wait was born on a roundabout just seven kilometres away from the hospital in the early hours of Wednesday morning, police have said.

“Baby Ties was born in the car, in the presence of some of our officers. He is a healthy little boy,” police said in a post on Facebook.

The woman, who was accompanied by her midwife mother, had left for the Slingeland hospital in Doetinchem in Gelderland shortly after midnight but it soon became apparent the baby was in a hurry to be born.

The car stopped at a roundabout and the baby was born without complications.
