A 64-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the theft of iPhones worth €1.7 million following a television crime show tip-off.

The man was arrested near Delft on November 29, one day after the broadcast and has been remanded in custody while the investigation continues.

The man is suspected of stealing a shipment of 15 Max iPhones in various colours from a freight company at Schiphol airport at the end of October by using false paperwork. He also got away with a considerable amount of spare parts.

The tv crime show Opsporing Verzocht showed the man driving off in a lorry which turned out to have been stolen from near Lelystad.
