Drunk driver who killed family of four is jailed for 10 years
A drink-driver who killed four members of the same family when he lost control while driving at more than 200 kph has been jailed for 10 years.
The crash on the A59 motorway on March 10 this year caused the deaths of a 10-year-old girl, a 13-year-old boy and their parents.
Thomas de G. was using his mobile phone to film his journey as he travelled at speeds of up to 205 kph.
He told the court he had drunk nine or 10 beers before setting off in his car. De G. had previously had his licence temporarily revoked for a drink driving offence.
The sentence, which also includes compulsory psychiatric treatment, is higher than that demanded by the public prosecution department.
