Consumer confidence rises for fourth month in a row
Dutch consumer confidence improved for the fourth month in a row in December, but remains low at -29, according to new figures from national statistics agency CBS.
Consumers are more optimistic about the economic climate and are more willing to spend money, the CBS found.
Nevertheless, consumer confidence is still well below the average over the past 20 years (-10). The index reached a high of +36 in January 2000 but fell to -59, its lowest-ever level, in October 2022 in the wake of the coronavirus crisis.
