A driving instructor who told his 17 year-old pupil to speed up to 154 kph on the A2 near Boxtel has been fined €574, the AD reported on Wednesday.

Police spotted the car on the 130 kph motorway on Tuesday evening as it sped by, and also noted the driver had trouble keeping in lane.

When stopped by police, the driving instructor (54) said the excess speed was part of a driving lesson to explain that driving fast does not automatically result in a quicker journey.

The police officers were not impressed and fined him €334 for speeding and €240 for hogging the left-hand lane of the motorway.
