Man arrested for stealing and sellling stolen police uniforms
A 63-year-old security guard and police volunteer from Noordwijk has been arrested for stealing police uniforms, the public prosecutor’s office has said.
Police found “large quantities” of police uniforms and other attributes in lockers at his place of work. They say it is not clear how the man was able to get his hands on so many uniforms and who he sold them to but said the practice had been going on for some time.
The man has been released while the investigation continues.
Police uniforms are popular items among criminal gangs. Just last week, police arrested two Romanian nationals wearing Dutch police uniforms who had pocketed money from fines they had handed out in the streets of Meerkerk in the province of Utrecht.
