PSV Eindhoven kept up their 100% record in the Eredivisie by breezing past PEC Zwolle to take their goal tally to 45 in 12 matches.

Hirving Lozano opened the scoring in the fifth minute when he was sent clear by Guus Til’s diagonal pass, before Til himself added the second from a narrow angle after 27 minutes.

Luuk de Jong, with a trademark header from a corner, and Malik Tillman, rounding off an intricate passing move, completed the scoring as PSV scored at least three goals for the 11th league match in a row.

Feyenoord went clear in second place as a Quinten Timber strike from 25 yards earned them a 1-0 win over AZ Alkmaar, who started the weekend level on points with the defending champions.

Third placed Twente staged a late comeback to draw 3-3 at home to NEC Nimegen, with Sam Steijn bagging his second goal of the game after 76 minutes before Manfred Ugalde snatched an equaliser three minutes before the whistle.

Almere celebrate draw

Ajax remain in the bottom half of the table after conceding an injury-time penalty to Almere City, who stay one point ahead of their local rivals. Thomas Robinet scored the spot-kick, which was awarded when midfielder Benjamin Tahirovic hacked down Stije Resink in the area, to extend Almere’s unbeaten run to six matches.

Two goals by defender Bart Vriends helped Sparta to a 4-1 win at Volendam and kept the Rotterdam club within three points of fifth-placed Go Ahead Eagles, who beat RKC Waalwijk thanks to a goal by Willum Thór Willumsson.

Fortuna Sittard scored four times without reply in the first half to record a comfortable win against Heracles, who have conceded 15 goals in their last four league and cup matches, including two to the amateurs of HHC Hardenberg.

Vitesse Arnhem coach Phillip Cocu resigned in the wake of the club’s 3-1 home defeat to Heerenveen, which kept the club pinned to the bottom of the table.

Million Manhoef’s thunderbolt gave Vitesse an early lead, but Heerenveen levelled midway through the first half and played with an extra man after Vitesse’s Marco van Ginkel collected a second booking on 69 minutes. Heerenveen took full advantage as Anas Tahiri scored from the spot and subsitute Ion Nicolaescu added a late third.
