Inflation fell to 5.7% in June after rising slightly in May, national statistics office CBS said in a new estimate on Tuesday.

Excluding energy and fuel, which have gone down in price, inflation was 7.2%, down from 7.9% in May, the CBS said. The cost of petrol and diesel fell 23% in price last month, compared with June 2022.

Food prices were up 13% in June, compared with a rise of 15% in May.

The CBS is also using a new method to calculate energy prices based on actual prices paid by consumers for gas and electricity, rather than the price for new contracts, in its inflation calculations.
